Requester software resides in a network-attached workstation. It provides a way for applications running in the workstation to make service requests to devices on the network, such as network servers or bandwidth managers. The requester software serves as a traffic director within the system, diverting commands for local services to the local operating system and diverting commands for network services to the network layer protocols. The network protocols then package information for delivery over the network and send it to the appropriate destination.
