Digitizing is the process of converting any kind of information to digital information (1s and 0s). An analog signal such as a voice telephone conversation is converted to digital for transmission across a digital link. Sound is digitized for storage in computers or on CD-ROMs. Pictures are digitized with scanners so they can be displayed on computer screens and stored on disk.
